We have been to several of their performances — always enjoyable. They are a dedicated group of musicians.”

The repertoire is always artfully chosen to appeal to a wide audience, balancing something old with something new. The musicians are top notch.
Rick Fleming, associate professor of music and director of bands at Buffalo State College, is the founder of the Erie County Chamber Winds, a professional chamber wind ensemble. This recording features works by Georges Enesco (1881–1955) and Ruth Gipps (1921–1999). Dixtour (1906) by Enesco is a three-movement composition for ten winds or double woodwind quintet. The Erie County Chamber Winds play this work with expertise.
The next two lesser-known compositions are by British composer, oboist, and pianist Ruth Gipps. Seascape (1958) is a one-movement programmatic work for double woodwind quintet and optional string bass. This is followed by Wind Sinfonietta, Op. 73 (1989), a four-movement work similar in structure to a symphony. These two works serve as additional repertoire for this combination of instruments. Fleming and the Erie County Chamber Winds are to be commended for this recording.
